Care to go on a yoga retreat?

Guys. Did you know that there was such a thing as yoga retreats?
I may have just announced to the world that I live under a rock, but in the interest of full disclosure I will admit that I had no idea it was a thing.

So how did I find out about it? Well, this is also my stealth way of talking about my new job. You see, I’ve been working a few months now with a company that runs several theme travel websites, and one of the sites is called BookYogaRetreats. And it’s all about, you guessed it, booking yoga retreats.

Shameless self-promotion: on our site, you get to choose from among hundreds of yoga holiday packages. They’re all presented so you can easily compare destinations (practically anywhere in the world), yoga styles, prices, amenities, inclusions, excursions and other offers. You even get to read first-hand reviews from people who went on the holidays, so you know the real deal.

I started as an editor, and all day I had to look at and compile yoga vacation packages in gorgeous places such as Tuscany or Mykonos. Best job ever! Can you imagine being exposed 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, to nothing but pictures and descriptions of the Alps, or vineyards in Florence, or cozy B&Bs in Sussex? Add to that the fact that you get to read about the concepts of yoga and meditation and zen. I realized how much stress I had to deal with in my old life, because I certainly wasn’t exposed to anything so positive.

I also learned that a lot of people like going on solo holidays. And it’s given me something to work for, because I’ve never done that before. But now I see the appeal of just getting away from everything and everyone for a while. Also something that’s popular? Going away on your own during Christmas and New Year! Now this I can totally get behind.Ā  Sometimes I feel that escaping from all the pressures and craziness of the holidays can really do you good.

So if you’re into yoga – whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, if you like a bit of surfing or skiing thrown in with your yoga classes, if you like your yoga with aĀ  bit of touring around and sightseeing thrown in, if you’re looking to detox, lose weight or stop smoking – I’m pretty sure we’ve got you covered. Trust me, I worked on those packages!
