I’ve been glued to the Australian Open lately, and one of the best parts has been Jim Courier’s post-match interviews with the players. (Aside from Rafa still being in it, of course.) It’s also a bit weird that they hold it in the middle of the court, and some players, like Nadal, lug their huge bags and just drop them on the ground while talking to him.
But speaking of Courier, here’s his funny interview with Rafa after Nadal’s 3R match. We find out that when Courier asks a mathematical question, he really needs a mathematical answer.
I also loved his 3R interview with Djokovic – they talked about the recent ads Nole made for Jacob’s Creek, where he talks about what inspired him to be a tennis player. In the ads, he shares that the pivotal moment was watching Pete Sampras win Wimbledon in the 90s. So of course Courier asks Nole, “Who did Pete beat in one of those Wimbledons?” Answer? Courier! Such a funny moment that I laughed out loud because I remember watching that match. I wish I could share the video with you, but I think for the first time ever, the interwebs has failed me. I can’t for the life of me find that video. Anyway, believe me, it was hilarious.
