October 3. Tuesday.
The movie is pretty easy to explain. Anna (Morjana Aloui) is kidnapped and tortured at a young age. She escapes and ends up in an orphanage where she befriends Lucie (Mylene Jampanoi). Anna seeks revenge on those who hurt her and murders their entire family. In her panic, she starts seeing this monster who is out to get her. She calls Lucie, who then tries to clean up the mess. Anna kills herself and leaves Lucie in the house where the organization who kidnapped and tortured Anna find Lucie. They then do the same to her.
Martyrs really didn’t do it for me. I kept checking the time to see how much longer was I going to be tortured. Unlike the previous ones I saw, I kept getting dizzy because I was starting to fall asleep. And nope, this will definitely not induce any nightmares. The plot twists felt forced. It’s like it was the movie’s only choice because it had nowhere else to go.
I guess you could call this torture porn, due to the fact that the kidnappers did actually have a torture dungeon. It came fully stocked with the usual stuff – chains, chains, and more chains. But of course, for the sake of trying to make Lucie more interesting, she’s different *rolls eyes*. She can stand the torture and becomes this special being that transcends all of it and tells what was it like. I mean, after being skinned I’m sure anyone will see some other side shit.
I could go on, but I want this portion of my life to be over so, in conclusion, I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t interested. I was bored.
3 down. 28 to go.
