THIS. IS. IT.

The long-awaited new music from the best band in the world is finally here. After some genius subtle marketing – where lucky fans (not me! hmph) received letters in actual snail mail with cryptic messages under a silhouette of the expected album cover art –  U2 have released the video for their new single “Blackout”.

Stark and gritty, the video shows Bono crowdsurfing among the luckiest fans in the world. It was shot in Amsterdam, with the chosen blessed few (sniff sniff) getting to participate.

But I’m done with my whining, because the song sounds amazing and almost muscular if a song can be described as muscular with its fat beats and Edge’s driving guitar. It evokes Achtung Baby, which bodes well for the new album, Songs of Experience.

Mark your calendars for Sept. 6th, when the new single “You’re The Best Thing About Me” is revealed. Rumor has it that the album will be released on Dec. 1st to coincide with World Aids Day.

And look! I know all subscribers got the email, but I can pretend that it’s just for me, because they said so.

I am happy, I am excited, I am blessed, I CANNOT WAIT.
